Jets' Pryor on Tannehill's criticism: 'Throw a better ball next time'

Published Nov. 29, 2015 8:55 p.m. ET

Following the Miami's loss to the New York Jets on Sunday, Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill expressed his displeasure with Jets safety Calvin Pryor's celebration after laying out Rishard Matthews.

Pryor made a clean hit on Matthews in the first quarter, ending the receiver's day early. Pryor celebrated after the play, which didn't sit well with Tannehill, to say the least.

“I was worried about Rishard, but I heard some (teammates) talking about it on the sidelines,” Tannehill said via James Walker of ESPN. “That’s kind of a classless move to celebrate when a guy is injured. Obviously, it was a good hit, a clean hit. But to celebrate when a guy is down is a classless move.”

Pryor caught wind of Tannehill's comments, and took to Twitter to respond -- taking a shot at the quarterback in the process.

Tannehill completed just 33 of 58 passes, and the final score of 38-20 certainly didn't help. It's been a long year for the Dolphins, who are likely to miss the playoffs for the seventh straight season.
