Brandon Marshall on making Pro Bowl: 'I don't even care'

Published Dec. 23, 2015 10:29 a.m. ET

Brandon Marshall is easily having one of his best seasons as a pro in 2015, which is remarkable considering it is just his first season with the New York Jets. On Tuesday, the 31-year-old was selected to his sixth Pro Bowl.

Excuse him for not caring.

When asked earlier in the day what another Pro Bowl selection would mean, Marshall said he is “tired” of the Pro Bowl and just wants to win a championship.

“I’ll be honest, I don’t even care,” he said, via Seth Walder of the New York Daily News. “I think the last time I was voted I didn’t go. Tired of the Pro Bowl.

“If we’re not in the Super Bowl maybe I will go this year. But I’m so focused on winning it all that I don’t care about it.”

Unless the Jets get a lot of help over the next two weeks, the Pro Bowl might be the only football game Marshall is welcome to play in come late January. Considering New York is hosting the Patriots on Sunday, there is not a lot of optimism.

Needless to say, Marshall’s views on the Pro Bowl differ greatly from those of this defensive lineman. To some guys, it means a lot. To people like Marshall, it’s a lousy consolation prize for coming up short yet again.
