Opposing quarterbacks are torching Saints in a record-breaking way

It's not exactly breaking news that the New Orleans Saints have struggled against the pass this year. Apparently, though, things are worse than many may have thought.

According to Jeff Duncan of The Times-Picayune, New Orleans is on pace to have a record-breakingly bad season in terms of passer rating allowed to opposing quarterbacks.

As Duncan reports, the worst defensive passer efficiency rating since 2003 came from the 2008 Detroit Lions, who went 0-16. Well, the Saints are currently allowing a 112.0 combined passer efficiency rating.

It's a brutal number, but after seeing rookie Marcus Mariota tear off four interceptions with 371 yards and no interceptions, the cause for concern is obvious.

If New Orleans wants to make a playoff push down the home stretch, they'll badly need to improve their pass defense. Keep an eye on the Saints and that defense over the coming weeks.
