Report: Patriots LT Nate Solder out for season with torn biceps

Published Oct. 14, 2015 1:45 p.m. ET

The New England Patriots suffered a serious blow on Wednesday as left tackle Nate Solder will reportedly miss the remainder of the season with a torn right biceps muscle. It was first reported by the Boston Globe.

Solder left Sunday's 30-6 victory over the Dallas Cowboys in the second quarter with what was believed to be a right elbow injury. He was unable to return, though he said he may have been able to go back into the game. Marcus Cannon replaced Solder on Sunday, and he is expected to take over at left tackle for the remainder of the season.

Fortunately, the Patriots have rotated their linemen consistently this season, with Cannon playing 49.8 percent of the team's offensive snaps. That alone, should help with regards to Cannon's ability to protect Tom Brady's blindside. Additionally, Brady gets the out quicker than most quarterbacks, as he averages 2.06 seconds per attempt.

It's certainly not good news for the Patriots, but there may not be a team better equipped to overcome this type of injury than New England.
