Vikes star causes issue at McDonald's

Published Jan. 14, 2011 12:00 a.m. ET

Letting Adrian Peterson get past you is usually grounds for punishment in the NFL. Now it's the same at McDonald's.

A late-shift employee at a Minnesota McDonald's says she was fired, and then rehired soon after, for letting the Minnesota Vikings star running back use the bathroom in the wee hours of the morning, after the restaurant's interior was closed for the night.

The woman, Tiffany Langeslay, told her story to KSTP-TV in Minneapolis. She says Peterson approached the drive-thru — which was still open — around 3 a.m. on foot on a recent night and asked to use the restroom. Langeslay at first refused, then says she agreed to open the doors once she realized who it was.

"He said, 'Ma'am. My name's Adrian Peterson. This is an emergency,' " Langeslay told KSTP.

When she returned for her next shift, Langeslay says, she found out she had been fired after seven years of service for breaking the rules.

"I never thought in a million years that decision was going to cost me my career," Langeslay told KSTP.

Langeslay left a Facebook message on an Adrian Peterson page pleading for help with the situation. KSTP later contacted the McDonald's, and Langeslay was offered her job back.

The McDonald's was located just a few blocks from Peterson's home in the Minneapolis suburb of Eden Prairie, KSTP said.
