Aaron Rodgers: Vikings HC Zimmer is 'at the forefront of a revolution'

Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer received some high praise from Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers this week. With the Vikings slated to host the Packers this Sunday, Rodgers identified Zimmer as a coach who is "at the forefront of a revolution" in the NFL, according to ESPN's Ben Goessling.

Here's Rodgers' full quote about Zimmer, who has one of the league's sharpest defensive minds:

That's a pretty big compliment, considering it's coming from a guy who has made a career out of making defensive schemes look foolish. Even though Rodgers' offense hasn't been as potent this season as it has been in years' past, Zimmer returned the respect.

"He looks like the same guy to me -- great vision in the pocket, great vision, throws the ball anywhere at any time," Zimmer said of Rodgers, per ESPN. "He gets the guys in the right protections. I have the utmost respect for him."

Zimmer is charged with coming up with a game plan to stop Rodgers this weekend. He must also prepare his players to perform well under pressure, since first-place in the NFC North is on the line.

Any time you're at the forefront of a revolution in this league -- what they do with their seven- and eight-up looks that they started in Cincinnati -- that says a lot about the type of coach you are. Other teams have tried to copy it; not to the same success that he's had over the years. He's an incredible teacher of the game. He gets his guys on the same page, understanding timing of the defense based on the front and pressure. There aren't a lot of discipline mistakes and mental errors. They get the most out of their guys.
