Michael Sam gets first NFL preseason sack against Packers
Every defensive end remembers their first sack in the NFL. Rams rookie Michael Sam will be no different.
After the rookie Rams defensive lineman was stonewalled for much of Saturday's preseason game vs. the Green Bay Packers, Sam beat right tackle Derek Sherrod on a speed move, hauling in quarterback Matt Flynn for the sack in the fourth quarter at Edward Jones Dome.
Sam, who must impress on special teams to make the final 53-man cut, is in a heated battle with undrafted rookie Ethan Westbrooks.
Westbrooks, alongside Rams defensive end Eugene Sims, gave Packers backup quarterback Scott Tolzien all kinds of trouble in the second quarter.
The undrafted defensive end from West Texas A&M was active in the trenches, racking up three tackles and swatting balls at the line of scrimmage.
