DAVIE, Fla. -- Brady Quinn has signed with the Miami Dolphins.

The deal was agreed to Monday and announced Tuesday by the team. Quinn, who joins his seventh NFL club, is expected to compete with Matt Moore for the backup job behind Ryan Tannehill.

Also Tuesday, the Dolphins placed quarterback Pat Devlin on the waived/injured list.

Quinn last played Dec. 30, 2012, with Kansas City. He spent time last season with Seattle, St. Louis and the New York Jets, though did not appear with any of those clubs.

Quinn was a star at Notre Dame and the 22nd pick in the 2007 draft by the Cleveland Browns. Fans at Miami's draft party that year booed when the team passed on Quinn with the ninth pick and took receiver Ted Ginn Jr.
