Lamar Miller says Dolphins haven't approached him about new contract

The Miami Dolphins will have a big decision to make in the upcoming offseason regarding running back Lamar Miller. He's set to be a free agent after this season, and as a young running back, he'll likely be one of the top targets on the market.

According to Miller, the Dolphins haven't approached him about a contract extension yet. However, Miller said "it would be great" to return to Miami next season, according to James Walker of ESPN.

He wants to finish the year strong, but he'll need more carries to showcase his talents. Miller said he wants more touches, and rightfully so. He's averaged a career-high 5.1 yards per carry this season and needs 231 yards in the final three games to surpass 1,000 yards for the second straight season.

If the Dolphins choose not to re-sign Miller, Jay Ajayi would likely become the lead back in Miami. He's showed potential in limited action this year, averaging 5.0 yards per carry on 27 attempts. He's a cheaper option, but long-term concerns about his knee could be an issue.
