No Pro Bowl for Matthew Stafford despite 8 Comeback Wins.

Matthew Stafford did not make this year’s Pro Bowl, despite being in the MVP conversation for much of the season and leading the Lions towards their first division title since 1993. It’s surprising but something Stafford is used to by now. He failed to make it in 2011 – when he threw for 41 touchdowns and over 5,000 yards.

This season, his numbers aren’t quite on that elite level, but anyone who’s watched the games has witnessed Stafford lead an NFL record eight fourth-quarter comebacks. His 95.8 QB rating, 22 touchdowns, and just 8 interceptions apparently weren’t good enough.

If you’re wondering which QBs made it over Stafford, it’s Matt Ryan, Dak Prescott and Aaron Rodgers. Full Roster Here. They aren’t exactly a huge surprise since all have comparable numbers or better ones than Stafford. What is confusing is how Stafford was left off for Rodgers when it seems they took team success as a part of the criteria.

Drew Brees was also left off, including some other noteworthy players. Some other Lions including Darius Slay, Glover Quin, Travis Swanson, Sam Martin and Matt Prater. We knew some Lions would miss out, but ALL of them? It was clearly a sign the NFL thinks Detroit is going to lose out, lose the division and miss the Playoffs.

If you’re like me, you might be wondering why the Ballots are in when there are two games left. Well, I can’t answer that. There is still a chance the Lions get some players in as alternates, but this is disappointing for fans of this division-leading team. “Detroit Vs Everbody” as they say round here.
