Seahawks sign former 49ers receiver Brandon Jones

The Seattle Seahawks have signed former San Francisco wide

receiver Brandon Jones, a year after he signed a lucrative deal

with the 49ers.

The team confirmed Jones’ signing on Sunday and said there was

no update on the right ankle of rookie left tackle Russell Okung.

Okung was injured in Saturday night’s preseason game against Green

Bay. Replays appeared to show left guard Ben Hamilton getting

tangled with Okung on Seattle’s first play.

San Francisco was hoping Jones could develop into one of Alex

Smith’s favorite targets after missing much of the 2009 season with

a broken bone in his shoulder. Jones played in eight games and

finished with just one catch after the 49ers gave him a $16.6

million deal in free agency.

Jones was released by the 49ers last Wednesday.
