PHOENIX (AP) Comedian Josh Gad is expecting big things when his ''Frozen'' co-star Idina Menzel steps to a microphone Sunday at the Super Bowl and sings the national anthem.

''She is going to kill it. Kill it,'' Gad said Friday.

Mendel's performance of the song ''Let It Go'' from ''Frozen'' is a huge hit with the film's younger fans, and certainly familiar to their parents as well. She is a Tony Award winner and performed at last year's Academy Awards.

''People know who she is now,'' Gad said. ''And I think people know and anticipate and are as equally excited about Idina Menzel as they are about Katy Perry.''

In addition to seeing his friend perform, Gad said he's excited for what he expects to be an extraordinary Super Bowl game. ''I really do think it's going to be a close one,'' he said. The comedian is rooting for the Seahawks and expects them to win ''in a squeaker.''

Gad's latest project is ''The Comedians,'' a comedy show with Billy Crystal that will begin airing on FX in April. The show is an opportunity to work with one of his childhood idols.

''I probably wore out the tape to `City Slickers' and `The Princess Bride,' because I saw them so many times, over and over again,'' the 33-year-old comedian said.

''It is truly the greatest master class in comedy that I've ever had,'' he said of working with Crystal.
