After tumultuous offseason, is Jim Harbaugh losing 49ers' locker room?

Published Sep. 7, 2014 12:55 p.m. ET

Jim Harbaugh and the 49ers front office had a well-publicized rift in the offseason when it came to contract talks, one that sprouted rumors of a possible trade of the coach to the Cleveland Browns.

Now there is a report that Harbaugh may be dealing with a rift in the locker room.

NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport had this to say on the possible divide:

The 49ers -- who have gone to three straight NFC title games and enjoyed a lot of success under Harbaugh (who is 36-11-1 in three seasons with the team) -- have had a rocky offseason. Aldon Smith is suspended for the first nine games. A week ago, Ray McDonald was arrested in an alleged domestic dispute.

And, of course, Harbaugh and the front office have publicly feuded in the offseason over contract talks.

The 49ers visit Dallas at 4:25 p.m. ET Sunday in the FOX Game of the Week.
