Jets' Richardson to replace Bucs' injured McCoy in Pro Bowl

NEW YORK (AP) New York Jets defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson is replacing injured Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy in the Pro Bowl.

The Jets announced Wednesday that Richardson, who was originally selected as an alternate, will play in the game in Glendale, Arizona, on Jan. 25 - a week before the Super Bowl is played there.

Richardson joins center Nick Mangold as Jets players in the Pro Bowl this year. Richardson, the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year last season, followed that up by leading the Jets with eight sacks and establishing himself as one of the league's top defensive linemen.

McCoy was placed on season-ending injured reserve on Dec. 15 after spraining his right knee.
