Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that Jay Cutler may miss the remainder of the season with a shoulder injury.
If there was a way to put Chicago Bears’ fans out of their misery, it would be to shut Jay Cutler down for the remainder of the season. Well, when it rains, it pours, or in this case, it’s a category five hurricane.
If Bears’ fans are hoping for losses for a better draft pick, their wish may be granted in the person of Matt Barkley. Barkley was inept against the Green Bay Packers in his only appearance of the season. He was 6 of 15 for 81 yards with two interceptions. That’s a QB rating of 18.3.
To be fair to Barkley, he would have been the Bears’ fourth string QB. Had Connor Shaw not been injured in the preseason, he would have been the Bears third string QB on the practice squad. Throwing Barkley out there isn’t fair to him or the team, but this is what happens when you have three QBs on IR (if, of course, Cutler is shutdown for the year).
If the Cutler story is true, it seems impossible to see how this season could get any worse. But based on how this season is gone, anything is possible.
