Jason Garrett won't predict when Dez Bryant will return

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant recently underwent a second procedure on his foot that theoretically provided hope for a quicker return than expected, but head coach Jason Garrett isn’t committing to a timetable.

According to Jon Machota of The Dallas Morning News, Garrett said Bryant seems to be making progress but would not offer a definitive outlook.

Following the team’s loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday, owner Jerry Jones mentioned Bryant had a therapeutic injection that is more of a possible benefit than a setback.

But if we’ve learned anything about Jerry, it’s that what he says often doesn’t actually carry much weight - see Jones declaring you won’t find a more gifted passer than Brandon Weeden.

Bryant broke the fifth metatarsal in his right foot, which is called a Jones - not a Jerry - fracture. Oklahoma City Thunder small forward Kevin Durant sat out seven weeks due to an identical injury. Seven weeks from Bryant’s injury falls on Nov. 1, when the Cowboys host the Seattle Seahawks.

Durant’s injury suggests that at the absolute best Bryant is back for Seattle. However, he more realistically returns sometime in the following weeks along with quarterback Tony Romo. But until Garrett commits to a timetable, we shouldn’t, either.
