Jared Goff Needs to Be Better For Los Angeles Rams
Jared Goff made his NFL debut in Week 11 against the Miami Dolphins, but the Los Angeles Rams will need more out of their rookie quarterback moving forward.
There was plenty of hype surrounding the NFL debut of Jared Goff with the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, as it took long enough for Jeff Fisher to finally realize a change was needed at the quarterback position. While Goff’s performance against the Dolphins wasn’t terrible, the Rams are going to need more out of their rookie quarterback if they’re going to have any chance of winning a few games before the end of the 2016 season.
Obviously, Goff deserves some benefit of the doubt since Los Angeles has one of the league’s weakest receiving corps led by Tavon Austin, but hopefully the No. 1 pick will continue to show improvement with more experience. Even though Goff only completed 17 of 31 passes for 134 yards against Miami, at least he failed to record a single turnover in his NFL debut.
At the beginning of the season, an upgrade at quarterback seemed to be the main factor holding the Rams back from reaching the next level when considering they finished with one of the league’s top defenses in 2015, but that clearly is far from the case. This offense clearly still has numerous areas in need of improvement, and even though he’s only a rookie, the remaining six games would be the perfect opportunity for Goff to prove he was worth giving up all those future draft picks to the Tennessee Titans.
Hopefully, the future is bright for the Rams when it comes to building their franchise around Goff at quarterback, but it would be nice to see some of that potential over the final six games to help fans feel a little better about how much of a disaster this offense has been in 2016.
