Locker excels at Washington's pro day

Potential top-10 selection quarterback Jake Locker was very accurate throwing the football and showed very good arm strength during the University of Washington's pro day Wednesday.

Locker completed 38 of 40 passes during his throwing session. However, it did not feature one pass under center.

Locker, a 6-foot-2, 231-pound right-hander, hasn't had issues with arm strength. Accuracy is the biggest reason why many personnel evaluators see him dropping to the bottom of the first round or possibly going early in the second.

Locker struggled with his accuracy for much of Senior Bowl week practices in January.

“It's something I knew coming into this,” Locker said during last month’s NFL Scouting Combine about dealing with accuracy questions. “It would be one of the big points of questions so I was prepared for it and ready for it.”

But one of the reasons why he’ll likely go off the board within the first 50 selections is because of his athleticism and high character. In fact, he was drafted in Major League Baseball by the California Angels in 2009.

“I'm a football player and that's what my focus has been. I've been honest, up front with them about that. Football is where my heart is. I love the game. I love playing the game. As long as I have an opportunity to play football,” he said during the Combine.
