The New Orleans Saints were forced to place three on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list heading into training camp. The three players were Marques Colston, Jairus Byrd and Glenn Foster, as Evan Woodbery of NOLA.com reports. Obviously, Colston and Byrd specifically being on the list catch the eye.
As Woodbery reports, Byrd’s inclusion on the list may be precautionary after doing some limited workouts over the summer. He’s still in the process of returning from a season-ending knee injury last October.
Colston remains the real question, as no one is exactly sure what his injuries are at this point. He’s going to be a name to watch as training camp rolls on. Obviously, the connection between Colston and Drew Brees can’t be doubted, but you’d still like to see the receiver out there working with the team.
