Jaguars place Gerhart on injured reserve

Published Dec. 7, 2015 2:00 a.m. ET

After another injury-plagued year, the Jacksonville Jaguars placed running back Toby Gerhart on season-ending injured reserve on Saturday.

Per the Florida Times-Union, Gerhart was sidelined by the same groin injury that caused him to miss the first two weeks of the season.

The six-year veteran appeared in seven games this season, rushing 20 times for 44 yards behind starter T.J. Yeldon. He also caught three passes for 23 yards as well.

Last season, Gerhart ran for 326 yards and two touchdowns in 14 games, but was hampered by an ankle injury suffered in Week 1.

He signed a three-year, $10.5 million contract with the Jaguars in 2014, but had fallen behind Yeldon and Denard Robinson on the depth chart this season.

Jacksonville promoted wide receiver Rashad Lawrence from the practice squad to take Gerhart's place on the roster. Lawrence was inactive for Sunday's 42-39 loss to the Tennessee Titans.
