Home finale could be the end of an era for Jags TE Marcedes Lewis

Sunday's matchup against the Atlanta Falcons marks the final home game of the season for the Jacksonville Jagaurs, barring an unexpected run to the AFC South title.

If so, it could also be the last home game for longtime Jaguars tight end Marcedes Lewis. The 10-year veteran is in the final year of his contract and has just 13 catches for 142 yards on the season. He said he'd like to be able spend his entire career with one team, but realizes that might not be possible.

While the numbers haven't been there this season, Lewis added he's pleased he has been able to play in all 13 games this season after battling injuries the last two years.

Jacksonville's second round pick in 2006, Lewis is currently the longest-tenured member of the team. He had his best season in 2010 when he caught 58 passes for 700 yards and 10 touchdowns, earning himself a trip to the Pro Bowl.

“The big thing for me was showing I could stay healthy, and showing those injuries were flukes,” Lewis said. “It kind of is what it is. If they see fit for me and we’re able to work something out, that’d be awesome to be able to stay here. If not, it’s been a blessing.”
