Josh Johnson's on-again, off-again, on-again tenure with the Indianapolis is off. Again.

Per the Indianapolis Star, the Colts released the veteran quarterback in what may be a sign Andrew Luck is preparing to play in Sunday's matchup with the New England Patriots. Luck has missed the team's last two games.

Johnson was signed by the team Oct. 2 and released Oct. 5 after being active for the Colts' win over the Tennessee Titans. He was re-signed Oct. 7, prior to the team's win over the Houston Texans.

In a corresponding move, the Colts signed veteran return specialist Marcus Thigpen to the active roster. A former Indiana University standout, Thigpen spent the first four weeks of the season with the Buffalo Bills, averaging 9.7 yards per return on kickoffs and 5.2 yards per return on punts.

A four-year veteran, Thigpen has also played with the Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
