Indianapolis Colts: Andrew Luck in Concussion Protocol

The 2016 season has been a grind for the Indianapolis Colts, and it could get more difficult if Andrew Luck is unable to play in Week 12.

Riding high off of a huge win over the Green Bay Packers, Marcus Mariota and the Tennessee Titans were thwarted in Week 11 by a fresh Indianapolis Colts team. Coming off of a win over the Packers of their own and the bye week, the Colts won 24-17 behind a pair of touchdown passes from Andrew Luck to T.Y. Hilton and Donte Moncrief.

The Colts passing attack has been the only bright spot on the team this season, but that’s just par for the course in Indianapolis. They will need to put up points on the board next week against the Pittsburgh Steelers, because Ben Roethlisberger has been on fire against the Colts over the past two seasons.

According to Colts head coach Chuck Pagano, both Luck and safety Clayton Geathers are in the concussion protocol following Sunday’s win over the Titans.

Luck is in a race to get cleared before the Thanksgiving Day tilt against Big Ben and the Steelers. He is by far the most important player on this team, and the only quarterback listed on the roster is Scott Tolzien, briefly Aaron Rodgers’s injury replacement on the Packers a few years ago.

Predicting Luck’s availability for Thursday’s game is an impossible task right now, but we can only hope he’s OK. Head injuries are serious, and the Colts need to exercise all the caution in the world with their franchise icon. Luck is important, and the Colts are fighting for the division at 5-5. However, Luck’s health is the bigger deal, but let’s hope Luck is able to clear the protocol as quickly as is safely possible.
