Texans guard Su'a-Filo settling in during second season

Published Dec. 2, 2015 11:54 a.m. ET

It took a season and a half, but Houston Texans offensive lineman Xavier Su'a-Filo is starting to consistently demonstrate the promise that prompted the team to take him in the second round of last year's draft.

Su'a-Filo, the 33rd overall pick in 2014, has started and played every offensive snap the last three games and established himself at left guard, taking over for Oday Aboushi.

The former UCLA standout, who started just one game as a rookie, was slowed by a strained calf muscle earlier this season. He's part of an offensive line that's helped the Texans run for more than 100 yards two straight weeks.

“I try to improve every week and build on the performances," Su'a-Filo said, per the Houston Chronicle. "The coaches just tell me to keep working hard.”
