Clowney, Crick day-to-day for Texans

Published Oct. 15, 2015 12:47 p.m. ET

Houston Texans linebacker Jadeveon Clowney and defensive end Jared Crick missed the team's practice Wednesday, leaving their status for Sunday's game agains Jacksonville uncertain.

Houston head coach Bill O'Brien told reporters both players have a chance to play, but are considered day-to-day.

Crick is dealing with a knee injury, while Clowney hurt his ankle in Houston's 27-20 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. The top overall pick in the 2014 draft was in a walking boot the day after the game, but said Wednesday he was feeling "pretty good."

“I was hurting real bad, but I was like, ‘I’m going to finish this game,’” Clowney said, per the Houston Chronicle. “I continued to play. Knee pain and ankle pain, I think I’ll take the ankle pain over knee pain. When it was bothering me in my knee, I was just like, ‘I can’t go.’”

Clowney has 12 tackles and one forced fumble through the first five games, but is still looking for his first NFL sack.
