Hoodie among the goodies as politicians take sides on title games

You think perhaps Bill Belichick's ears just perked up?

Some attire near and dear to the New England coach's heart is at stake in a friendly bet between the mayors of Boston and Denver ahead of this weekend's AFC Championship Game.

Denver Mayor Michael Hancock is betting green chili on the Broncos in Sunday's game and also throwing in a ball cap, skis and a hoodie -- Belichick's trademark attire on the sidelines -- the Denver Post reports. For his part, counterpart Martin Walsh is betting a stack of library books by Boston authors and candies from his city's oldest chocolatier, Phillips Chocolates.

And according to MyFoxBoston.com, Hancock will acknowledge a Patriots win by wearing Walsh's Patriots jersey during a session of next week's U.S. Conference of Mayors. Walsh will wear a Broncos jersey in the event of a Denver victory.

Not to be outdone, politicians in Seattle and San Francisco are betting on the NFC Championship Game.

San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee is betting Bloody Mary mix from the restaurant Lefty O'Doul's along with locally made ice cream and chocolates. If San Francisco wins, Lee will receive Seattle-made ice cream and chocolate from Mayor Ed Murray.

The losing mayor will also help his counterpart in raising $10,000 for a food bank or meal program in the winning city,the mayors announced.
