FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) Patriots linebacker Dont'a Hightower did not practice because of a knee injury and tight end Ron Gronkowski is still nursing a hamstring as New England prepares to host the Miami Dolphins in their home opener.

The Patriots were on the practice field Wednesday for the first time this week after players were off Tuesday. Gronkowski remained a limited participant on the week's first injury report. The All-Pro missed last week's season-opening win at Arizona with the same injury. Hightower started Sunday against the Cardinals, finishing with one tackle.

Left tackle Nate Solder (hamstring) was also limited Wednesday, as was right guard Jonathan Cooper (foot). Left guard Shaq Mason (hand) was also limited.

Other players listed as limited participants were cornerback Malcolm Butler (ankle), tackle Marcus Cannon (knee), defensive lineman Trey Flowers (shoulder), and linebacker Shea McClellin (shoulder).
