Falcons, Douglas agree to extension
Two offensive players are returning to the Atlanta Falcons.
A source told FOXSports.com that wide receiver Harry Douglas had agreed to terms on a four-year contract extension. Financial details weren’t immediately available.
Backup quarterback Chris Redman also signed a one-year deal, a source said. Financial details weren’t immediately available.
Paired with starters Roddy White and Julio Jones, Douglas posted career highs in catches (39) and receiving yards (498) in 2011 as Atlanta’s third wideout. Douglas, 27, also made four starts.
As a third-round pick in 2008, Douglas was selected in the same draft class as quarterback Matt Ryan. Douglas missed the 2009 season with a knee injury but has played in every Falcons game the past two seasons.
Redman has served as Atlanta’s backup passer since the Falcons drafted Ryan with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2007 draft. Redman, 34, appeared in five games last season, completing 18 of 28 passes for 188 yards with one interception.
