Was Clay Matthews’ hit on Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo a cheap shot?
The veteran Green Bay Packers linebacker lunged at the knees of Romo after the latter threw a touchdown pass to fullback Tyler Clutts in the first quarter of Sunday’s NFC divisional playoff game. Matthews was not flagged by referee Gene Steratore.
Romo, who has dealt with a rash of injuries this season, got right up and appeared to be fine after the hit.
DallasCowboys.com’s Nick Eatman offered up his opinion in a brief tweet.
have a feeling if anyone went diving into Rodgers' knees or certainly his calf… the SWAT team would come on the field

This, of course, isn’t the first time Matthews has been accused of delivering a cheap shot. Former 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh criticized Matthews for a late hit he put on quarterback Colin Kaepernick last season. Matthews was later fined $15K for the hit.
