Fisher: Rams were in ‘final four’ to sign La’el Collins
The St. Louis Rams almost signed one of the best offensive lineman in the draft before the Dallas Cowboys snatched him up.
The only reason La’el Collins was available to any team was because of his potential off the field legal issue where police wanted to question him in the murder of his ex-girlfriend. He was never a suspect in the crime.
The Rams offensive line situation has been well documented this offseason so it makes sense they went after one of the top prospects available. ESPN.com reported the Rams were in discussion to sign Collins up until the very end.
"Yeah, we were involved in it,” Fisher said. “There were some things, we still had some unanswered questions at the time in which he made his decision but we were involved. We were told by them that we were in the final four, which is not necessarily a consolation but we were involved, yes.”
Collins could have been a big boost for the Rams offense, especially rookie running back Todd Gurley who will need to find blockers to run behind.
