Fantasy Football Start or Sit Week 12: RB Matt Forte

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Heading into Week 12 Fantasy Football, running back Matt Forte serves as a must-start against the New England Patriots.

Make no mistake about it, the New York Jets will have their hands full in Week 12 against the New England Patriots. As usual, the Patriots continue in their dominant ways and well, if the Jets have a shot at winning, it’ll come down to their ground game. What should fantasy football owners expect out of running back Matt Forte this week?

Forte continues to be impressive for Gang Green. Over the past four weeks, Forte has totaled or gotten close to 100 yards rushing and is getting hot at the right time. Even though his three-game streak of scoring a touchdown either through the air or ground ended last week, expect to see Forte get a good amount of reps.

It’s no secret that the Jets have a better shot at winning football games if they actually stick to what works. In this case, running the football has been a strong point for the Jets despite their offensive coordinator Chan Gailey trying to win games via a weak passing game.

The Jets should have wisened up over their bye week and should undoubtedly go back to their fundamentals. They’re a ground and pound team as fantasy football owners should confidently start Forte this week.

As an RB2 or even FLEX option this week, Forte tends to always play well during the latter part of the regular season. Against a division rival, the Jets should launch a heavy run-oriented offensive attack that should hopefully end their two-game losing streak.

Overall, Forte will be worth starting this week as he should easily crack over 100 yards and score a touchdown or two. During the crucial final stretch of games for fantasy football owners everywhere, it’s best to put trust in reliable players. Such is the case with Forte this week against the Patriots.
