Linebacker Robert James, a fifth-round pick by the Falcons in 2008 who never started a game, was among the cuts Saturday as Atlanta reached its 53-man roster limit.

The Falcons also released receivers Darius Johnson, James Rodgers and Martel Moore, fullback Patrick DiMarco, cornerback Jordan Mabin, offensive guards Phillipkeith Manley and Jacques McClendon and defensive tackle Adam Replogle.

James was credited with one tackle in 16 games last season.

McClendon and Rodgers were members of Atlanta's practice squad last year.

On Friday, the Falcons released linebacker Brian Banks. Banks was attempting to make a late start to his NFL career after spending five years in prison on a rape conviction that was later overturned last year.
