Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan has won the NFL’s Most Valuable Player award at NFL Honors

Matt Ryan has won the NFL MVP award, becoming the first player in franchise history to be given the dubious honor. Ryan winning the award is not shocking considering he has had the best season of his career this campaign, throwing for 38 touchdowns and 4,944 yards while leading the NFL’s top-ranked offense in points per game. He has been adept at spreading the ball around to a variety of receivers while still utilizing his top weapons like Pro Bowl wide receiver Julio Jones.

Ryan has finally made the step from being a quarterback who’s always put up solid numbers and is reliable to a signal-caller that is considered elite. His transformation this year has been incredible, and he and his offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan (who won NFL assistant coach of the year) should be given credit. Ryan deserves to be talked about in the same discussion as Brady and Rodgers, as he’s earned it with his elite play this season.

This was a easy decision after out-dueling Rodgers in the NFC Championship Game, and you could argue that the Packers quarterback would’ve won the MVP had he won that game. .

Falcons fans have a lot to be happy about this weekend, as they are in the Super Bowl, and their quarterback has won the NFL’s most prestigious award. However, Matt Ryan’s season has to be capped off with something a little more desirable to most NFL players — a Super Bowl ring.

Congratulations are certainly in order for Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan on receiving this prestigious honor from the AP.
