Ezekiel Elliott puts on show in pro debut against Seahawks

Dallas Cowboys fans have been waiting all preseason to see Ezekiel Elliott get some in-game action. And the fourth overall pick in this year's draft didn't disappoint Thursday night against the vaunted Seattle Seahawks defense.

Elliott made the most of his opportunities in his pro debut, rushing for 48 yards on seven carries in the first quarter. It was a sight Cowboys fans needed after seeing Tony Romo tweak his back on the third play of the game.

Elliott ran for just 3 yards on his first carry but then began gaining big chunks of yardage. After gaining 9 yards on each of his next two carries, Elliott lowered the boom on the Legion of Boom.

On second-and-1 from the Dallas 38, Elliott showed great cut-back ability to get to the secondary, where he lowered his shoulder on Pro Bowl safety Kam Chancellor.

Elliott, who missed Dallas' first two preseason games with a hamstring injury, showed he can do more than just run the ball. On the play Romo injured his back, Elliott upended Seahawks linebacker K.J. Wright in pass protection, displaying his blocking ability.  

Elliott had one more carry, rushing for 8 yards, then was taken out of the game after the first quarter. But the rookie running back showed he can more than hold his own against one of the best defenses in the NFL. A good sign for the Cowboys.
