Ex-Cowboys star Morgan has heart attack at Giants game, dies
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) Former Dallas Cowboys running back Dennis Morgan has died after suffering an apparent heart attack in the stands while watching his former team play the Giants at MetLife Stadium.
State Police Capt. Stephen Jones says the 63-year-old went into cardiac arrest Sunday and was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Giants defeated Dallas 27-20.
He was selected by the Cowboys in the 10th round of the 1974 NFL draft. He holds the franchise record for the longest punt return touchdown at 98 yards. He averaged 23.51 yards per kick return and 15.1 yards per punt return as a rookie.
Morgan played in four games for the Philadelphia Eagles in 1975 before leaving the NFL.
His funeral will take place Saturday in White Plains, New York.
