Eagles tackle Lane Johnson files claims against NFL, NFLPA

Philadelphia Eagles tackle Lane Johnson filed charges against the National Football League and NFL Players Association with the National Labor Relations Board, reports the MMQB's Albert Breer..

Johnson was suspended for 10 games for violating the league's performance enhancing drug policy after losing two appeals. Johnson says he took an approved amino acid but still testing positive for a banned drug.

Johnson's attorney Steve Zashin says the NFL and NFLPA have undermined players protections and that the two entities have violated federal law

"Lane also filed a complaint against the NFLPA with the Department of Labor under the Labor Management Reporting and Disclosure Act," according to a statement from Zashin. "During Lane's appeal, it became apparent that the written words in the collectively bargained Performance-Enhancing Substances Policy, under which Lane was disciplined, are meaningless. The PES Policy, as written, guarantees rights, protections and due process to players in recognition of the enormous consequences of discipline.

Johnson still has four games left on his suspension and is eligible to return for the Eagles Week 16 matchup against the New York Giants.
