Eagles head coach on Carson Wentz's game prep: 'It's Peyton Manning-ish'

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz has taken the NFL by storm in a matter of three weeks. He’s being anointed as the next John Elway and some overly excited fans are calling him a future Hall of Famer. It’s time to pump the brakes on those narratives, seeing as we’re only three games into his career.

It’s not ridiculous to call him one of the best young quarterbacks in the league, though. He’s off to a 3-0 start and has yet to turn the ball over. He’s been incredibly impressive, and the “Wentz Wagon,” as it’s being called, is filling up quickly.

Eagles head coach Doug Pederson is undeniably on it, as he should be. Wentz is his guy, and he’s done everything to near-perfection thus far. Yet, even Pederson can’t help himself when making premature comparisons.

Ready for Pederson’s latest comparison of Wentz? Here it is:

No, Pederson isn’t saying Wentz is the next Manning. However, he is making a comparison that shows how far along and committed Wentz is to the game of football. He’s received rave reviews since entering the league, from his work at the NFL Scouting Combine to his preparation through three weeks.

Wentz is certainly on the rise as a future star in the league, but it’s probably time to tap the brakes – and that includes you, Doug Pederson.
