Drew Brees passes Dan Marino for third on career passing yards list

Drew Brees reached yet another significant milestone Sunday. With an eight 8-yard completion to Coby Fleener in the second quarter, Brees topped Dan Marino (61,361 yards) for third place on the all-time passing yardage list.

Only Peyton Manning (71,940) and Brett Favre (71,838) have more career passing yards than Brees.

Brees, 37, passed Marino in 23 fewer games, doing so in 219 compared to Marino’s 242. He entered Week 2 against the New York Giants needing 36 yards to pass Marino, but it took him a while to reach that number – four drives, to be exact.

Brees still has a long way to go before he reaches Manning or Favre, but he’s made it abundantly clear that he wants to play for a few more years. If that holds true, he has a legitimate shot at finishing his career first all-time. He's a surefire Hall of Famer, to say the least.
