Drew Brees believes he can play for another seven years

Tom Brady is the oldest quarterback in the NFL, and he’s showed no signs of slowing down. Despite being 39 years old, Brady still plans to play for six or seven more years.

That puts him on track to play until he’s at least 45, which would be unheard of for a quarterback. He may not be the only one to reach that number, though. New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, who's 38, could follow suit.

He said as much on Friday, which was a bit surprising.

Brees, like Brady, hasn’t seen his skills decline much in recent years, consistently winning with accuracy and pre-snap reads. He never had the biggest arm in the NFL, so losing strength in that department shouldn’t be a big concern, which will help him stick around longer.

Whether he’ll finish his career with the Saints remains to be seen as the team has openly admitted it's in the market for a quarterback. Brees realizes that, but he’s not going to change his approach each year.

For the time being, he’s locked up through this season with an automatic void of his contract coming at the end of the year That doesn’t mean he won’t remain in New Orleans for the foreseeable future, but it allows the Saints to move on relatively soon if they want to.
