The Detroit Lions made major changes before their Week 9 bye. After starting the season 1-7, Lions owner Martha Ford fired team president Tom Lewand and general manager Martin Mayhew.
Ford’s shakeup had the desired short-term effect on the team. The Lions responded with an 18-16 win over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday at Lambeau Field, a venue in which Detroit had not won since 1991.
Although Lewand lost his job due to the Lions’ struggles this season, he’s clearly not holding a grudge against the franchise. The congratulatory Tweet was a classy move from the former team executive.
