Slay joins a long list of NFL stars who are currently or have been represented by Rosenhaus. The super-agent has helped a handful of players, including linebacker Stephen Tulloch, sign deals with the Lions in recent years.
Slay should become one of the league’s highest-paid cornerbacks this offseason, even though he still has one more year left on his rookie deal worth about $1 million. He is reliable and among the best in coverage, despite his low interception total (four career picks). The 25-year-old former second-round pick has started all 16 games each of the past two seasons.
If new Lions general manager Bob Quinn is smart, he’ll find a way to lock Slay up long term without breaking the bank.
