Report: Lions CB Slay hires Drew Rosenhaus to negotiate extension

Detroit Lions cornerback Darius Slay is in search of a contract extension, and he's making big moves to be sure that it happens.

It was reported on Monday that Slay dropped Relativity Sports and hired Drew Rosenhaus to be his agent through the negotiation process.

Via NFL Network's Ian Rapoport:

Slay joins a long list of NFL stars who are currently or have been represented by Rosenhaus. The super-agent has helped a handful of players, including linebacker Stephen Tulloch, sign deals with the Lions in recent years.

Via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press:

Slay should become one of the league's highest-paid cornerbacks this offseason, even though he still has one more year left on his rookie deal worth about $1 million. He is reliable and among the best in coverage, despite his low interception total (four career picks). The 25-year-old former second-round pick has started all 16 games each of the past two seasons.

If new Lions general manager Bob Quinn is smart, he'll find a way to lock Slay up long term without breaking the bank.
