DeSean Jackson Iffy To Play Against Packers On Sunday
DeSean Jackson missed the game against the Vikings with a shoulder injury. His status for this week’s game against the Packers is iffy at best.
The Washington Redskins notched a win in Week 10 against the Vikings, but they did so without the talents of their No. 1 wide-out DeSean Jackson. Jackson was nursing a shoulder injury and was surprisingly declared doubtful a few days before the game. Moving forward, it appears that the Redskins will allow their wide receiver to get fully healthy, though they have not ruled him out for this week’s game.

In a press conference on Monday, Jay Gruden and the Redskins coaches are hoping that Jackson is going to be ready to go against the Packers. They are hoping that after a couple of weeks off, Jackson will be healthier and will be able to get on the field. However, Gruden also pointed out that the team would not try to rush him back, per ESPN’s John Keim.
We’ve got to get him healthy first. He has to feel good about his shoulder and he has to have the strength back. An injured DeSean won’t do us much good. We’ve got to make sure he’s 100 percent ready to roll.
If the team ends up being without Jackson, they should be in good shape against the Packers.

The Packers are coming off of a brutal loss to the Tennessee Titans. They surrendered a whopping 47 points as Marcus Mariota was able to destroy their defense. The Packers are lacking depth at the cornerback position due to injuries, and Kirk Cousins and company could take advantage of that.
Should Jackson be out again, Pierre Garcon would likely serve as the de facto No. 1 receiver. He caught six passes for 81 yards against the Vikings and he should matchup favorably against the Packers defensive backfield. Elsewhere, Jamison Crowder should see a lot of targets and the Packers may have some serious trouble matching up with him. Perhaps Quinten Rollins could defend Crowder, but he is still going to have issues containing the agile playmaker.
When it’s all said and done, the Redskins are going to be okay without Jackson. He has not had that good of a season, and being without him could give the team a glimpse of life without him. It seems likely that this will be his final season in the nation’s capital anyway, so this could benefit the team in the long run.
