Von Miller named Super Bowl 50 most valuable player

Von Miller is your Super Bowl 50 MVP.

The Broncos outside linebacker wreaked havoc on Cam Newton and Co. in Denver's 24-10 win on Sunday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.

Miller, who finished the game with six tackles, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and a pass defensed, was unstoppable all night.

The honor is particularly sweet considering Miller was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. The only player taken ahead of him? Newton.

"I'm so proud of my guys," Miller told the media after the game, clutching the silver Lombardi Trophy as he spoke. "It's been every last one of you guys in the locker room that's gotten us to this moment right here."

Miller's most memorable play of the night came in the first quarter, when he strip-sacked Newton, which resulted in Denver's first touchdown of the game. Panthers offensive tackle Mike Remmers was no match for Miller, and it showed.

With 4 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Miller set up Denver's only other TD, too. Again, he got past Remmers and, as the offensive lineman grabbed a fistful of his white jersey, Miller reached out with his left hand to grab Newton's right arm as the quarterback brought the ball back to throw.

This one was recovered by safety T.J. Ward at the Carolina 4, and soon thereafter, C.J. Anderson's 2-yard run sealed the victory for Denver.

Two years ago, when Manning directed the NFL's best offense, Denver got walloped 43-8 in the Super Bowl by the Seattle Seahawks. Miller missed that game because of a knee injury.

Now the Broncos have that Super Bowl win -- and Miller has the hardware to prove he's one of the very best defenders of the game.

Miller becomes the 10th defensive player to win MVP in Super Bowl history.
