Denver Broncos OLB Demarcus Ware Wants To Play In 2017

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 11:02 p.m. ET

After successful back surgery, Broncos OLB Demarcus Ware “feels like a new man” and wants to play in the league for at least one more year.

Denver Broncos outside linebacker Demarcus Ware has been batiling injury after injury for the last two seasons.

But that has not stopped his drive to continue playing the game. If only for one more season.

After successful back surgery, the 34-year old vet has expressed interest in playing again in 2017.

Demarcus Ware also told ESPN.com’s Jeff Legwold that the Broncos head coach Vance Joseph would like to have him back on the team.

On March 9th, Demarcus Ware’s three year contract is up. Last offseason, he took a paycut in order to stay with the team.

I honestly believe if the Denver Broncos were willing to negotiate a one, maybe two year deal on Demarcus Ware that works for both parties, I can be okay with that.

In fact, I would be ecstatic about that. He has shown his leadership and his will power to help out the team the best that he can.

The only possible downside to his return would be that Shane Ray and Shaquil Barrett will have to wait out one more year.

Even with Ware on the roster, both guys saw a bit more action in 2016.

It will be interesting to see what John Elway does in regards to this news in the free agency period.

With Peyton Manning retired, it would make sense to have that leadership quality in the locker room for one more year.

This is especially true since the team will be in the first year under a new head coach.

As it stands currently, Demarcus Ware is eighth on the all time sack list in NFL history. But he has made it clear that all he is chasing is another title.

Having Ware back gives the Broncos a good shot at the fourth Lombardi Trophy.
