Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller was drawn offside by a vicious hard count when he last played the Kansas City Chiefs.
He laid an even more vicious — and unnecessary — lick on Chiefs’ quarterback Alex Smith. They know he’s the type of player who’s capable of outdoing his own penalty.
It’s no secret in league circles — and especially among league passers — that Miller breaks the rules. According to Pro Football Reference, he’s accrued 10 penalties for roughing the passer since his rookie season in 2011. That’s seven more than notorious dirty player Ndamukong Suh.

Miller goes out of his way to earn that reputation, though. He famously speared Smith late in a 2012 game the Broncos were winning. And just last week, Miller placed his knee on the throat of Colts’ tight end Jack Doyle.
The Chiefs won’t have to contend with Aqib Talib — but that doesn’t mean they should let their guard down on Sunday.
