Dalvin Cook the Best Running Back Prospect of 2017

Coming into this season we thought Leonard Fournette was the best running back prospect of this class. But Dalvin Cook has shown throughout the season that he is the RB 1 of this draft.

Florida State running back Dalvin Cook is proving that he is the best prospect at his position. And the reason why was on display Saturday in a 45-14 win over Syracuse. Cook ran for 225 yards and four TDs to become Florida State’s career rushing leader.

Cook eclipsed Warrick Dunn’s 20-year old school rushing record with a 41-yard run in the first quarter. What he did was great but the way he did it is what has the scouts drooling over him. The 5’11” 215 pounder has blazing speed and is tough to get on the ground.

He has the power to break tackles and will make you look like fool in the open field. That’s exactly what he did someone a Syracuse defender tried to tackle him on one of his TD runs. Cook’s elusive style of running has preserved his body and kept him off injury reports.

Of course that is why he has been the most consistent of the highly touted running back prospects. To with what he can do rushing, he’s also a great receiver out of the backfield and out wide. He also does a good job of keeping his quarterback clean.

The sum of all those parts makes a bell-cow back, the kind you take in the Top-5 in the draft. He may not be quite as fast but he looks like a bigger version of Chris Johnson. The running back position is making a comeback in the NFL and he’s going to be a part of it.
