Report: Cowboys' Randy Gregory fails drug test, faces one-year suspension

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory has failed another drug test that would put him in line for a one-year suspension, NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo report.

The NFL told Rapoport that it had not been notified of new violations on Gregory’s end. Gregory, currently serving a drug-related suspension, was eligible to return in December and will be able to appeal.

Gregory began the season on a four-game suspension for his first substance abuse violation, and is finishing up a 10-game suspension for a second violation. He would have to sit out an entire year of games from here, and the situation may place his status with the Cowboys in jeopardy.

The 23-year-old pass rusher was a second-round selection in the 2015 draft, and has appeared in just 12 NFL games. He has yet to record a sack.
