Packers' Shields says Dez Bryant play was 'a catch'

Did he or didn't he?

The buzz continues about whether Dallas Cowboys' Dez Bryant caught a pass near the goal line on fourth-and-2 late in the Cowboys playoff battle with the Packers two Sundays ago.

The latest person to weigh in on the discussion is the man closest to Bryant, Packers cornerback Sam Shields, who had the coverage assignment on the play.

"It was a catch," Shields told ESPN.com's Todd Archer. "But the new rule and at the last minute what happened, that's what the refs came up with. I never said he didn't catch it. He made a helluva catch I was in great coverage. Like I said, it was good on good and he came up with the catch."

Though he did add, “I did look back and I seen him reaching and I guess that’s when he didn’t control the ball as he was doing that.”
