Dez Bryant and the Dallas Cowboys obviously are involved in a contentious dispute over the talented wide receiver’s contract status with the team … so much so that Bryant has threatened to skip the Cowboys’ first game of the season, a matchup with the New York Giants on Sept. 13, a game that just so happens to be NBC’s Week 1 matchup on “Sunday Night Football.”
The official Twitter account of “Sunday Night Football” posted a bevy of images from the shoot, which featured Bryant as well as Philadelphia Eagles running back DeMarco Murray, New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews.

As noted in a report from The Dallas Morning News, Bryant has skipped the first three weeks of the Cowboys’ offseason program, although he did make an appearance at OTAs last week but did not practice. Bryant reportedly has made several pop-ins at Valley Ranch but sources have stated his presence from time-to-time has nothing to do with any progress being made in negotiations.
Bryant is seeking a long-term deal but after he and the Cowboys could not come to an agreement, the team placed the franchise tag on the wide receiver. But Bryant has not signed the tender, which would pay him $12.82 million next season. The team and Bryant have until July 15 to come to some kind of meeting of the minds.
As far as making an appearance at the “Sunday Night Football” shoot, all is not lost even if Bryant doesn’t play in Week 1 against the Giants. After all, the Cowboys not surprisingly make two additional appearances on “SNF” next season: in Week 4 against the New Orleans Saints and again in Week 9 against the division rival Philadelphia Eagles. With that in mind, NBC likely will be able to use some of the footage culled from the shoot for the later matchups.
