Mike Pereira's taking Colin Cowherd's idea for fixing kickoffs to the NFL

Colin Cowherd has an idea for fixing kickoffs, and Thursday on "The Herd" he shared it with Mike Pereira.

And the NFL on FOX rules guru liked it so much, he said he'll pitch it to the NFL!

Cowherd's proposal is to kick off from the 50-yard line, for four reasons:

1. Fewer brutal hits

2. More onside kick drama

3. More action-packed plays

4. Keeps trailing teams in games

"I went through your four-point plan and I wanted just to ... say it's ridiculous, but I actually couldn't, because I do actually think there is some merit to this," Pereira told Cowherd.

"And I think your most relevant comment is to make it more like punts ... the one thing that resonates with me in your proposal is, I do think you will get more attempted onside kicks, which are fun. I mean, they are actually fun plays. If you fail — if you kick off from the 50 and you fail at an onside kick attempt, where are the receivers gonna get the ball? Probably about the 35-yard line. So therefore you’re not going to have field goals immediately after an onside kick. So it has merit. The only thing that I would say here is that it's basically going against what the competition committee is wanting, and that's more touchbacks. ...

"I’m going to propose it to the league and see what kind of feedback I get from (Dean) Blandino, and what feedback I even get from a member of the competition committee."

Cowherd replied: "This could be the single greatest day in the history of my career."
